CONTROL SYSTEM OF AN AUTONOMOUS HELICOPTER MODELŠPINKA, O.; HANZALEK, Z. Abstract This contribution presents the control system of an autonomous helicopter model. This model is used as an ultimate proving ground and test bed for various control algorithms and real-time operating systems. Newly developed control algorithms may show here its qualities in praxis, as helicopters are very complex, hard-to-control non-linear and non-stable systems with six degrees of freedom. In this paper we present mainly the hardware solution of the controller, which is a lego-like distributed computer system consisting of various functional blocks, utilizing bus architecture. At the end of this paper we also present a preview of the software, currently being developed for this system.
